Validation of type certification - CD-230 is fourth diesel certified there
Oshkosh, Wisconsin on July 29th 2014 - Continental Motors Group Co., Ltd. of Hong Kong, China announced today it received Type Certificate Validation on July 3, 2014 from the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC). This is the fourth Jet-A diesel engine manufactured by Continental Motors to receive certification from the Chinese aviation authorities.
The CD-230, a member of the 200 series Jet-A diesel piston engines produced by Continental Motors is an air cooled, boxer style engine producing 230 HP at 2200 rpm. The engine was first certified by Continental Motors with the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration in December 2012. Obtaining the Validated Type Certificate in China makes this engine readily available to companies developing aircraft to meet the potential of this rapidly expanding market. It also demonstrates the growing capabilities available in the Continental Motors’ team to work with Regulatory authorities throughout the world.
“Our commitment to General Aviation is to provide engines that are suited to our clients needs. In some regions of the world, our clients are requesting Jet Fuel engines because of Avgas availability and its high cost. We intend to fulfill this need by offering a complete line of diesel cycle engines.” said Rhett Ross, President of Continental Motors, Inc. “As of this date, all CD-100 and CD-200 series engines are certified for the Chinese market,” he went on to say.

To ensure that the Continental Diesel product line is available in all parts of the world for use by existing and new OEMs, Continental Motors will continue to pursue both continuous product improvement and expanded certification validations. The company’s Diesel engines are already certified by nearly 80 authorities around the world.
