Centurion brands fades out - All Continenantal Diesels names start with "CD"
Oshkosh, Wisconsin, July 29, 2014 - As the world market leader for Diesel and AvGas aircraft engines, Continental Motors Group Co., Ltd. of Hong Kong, China (CMG) moves forward with forming a one-stop-shop for General Aviation engines, under one single brand. The Diesel engines known and sold under the brand name “Centurion” will be re-named to ”Continental Diesel” abbreviated as “CD” For example, the former Centurion 2.0s is now called CD-155.
The diesel products, which have delivered in excess of 4,000 engines powering more than 2,600 aircraft now includes the:
- The Centurion 2.0/2.0s engines are now the CD-100 series engine with 135 and 155 hp
- The Continental TD-300 engine are now the CD-200 series engine with 230 and 245 hp
- Continental’s newest diesel will start the CD-300 series with a first product rated at 310 hp
“As we continue to expand our business, Continental Motors’ goal is to ensure all CMG business units are aligned with our global strategy. The “single-brand” product offering and integrated global sales, service and support operations is important to ensure that our customers receive the best products and services,” said Rhett Ross, Vice President of AVIC International and Director of Continental Motors Group. “Aligning our divisions to one strategy ensures a consistent message and product line to meet the global market opportunities,” he went on to say.
High-frequency flyers in particular, such as flying schools or aero clubs, benefit from the Continental Diesel engines, which operates on widely available jet fuel. Pilots operating aircraft in regions of the world where avgas is hardly available will appreciate the high efficiency of the diesel engines. Continental diesel engines have generated over 4.2 million cumulated flying hours with exceptional reliability.
